Compressed archives combine multiple files into a single file to make them easier to transport or save on diskspace. Archiving software may also provide options for encryption, file spanning, checksums, self-extraction, and self-installation. Zip is the most-widely used format, used by the Windows operating system and more recently by OSX as well. RAR is also a very popular and flexible format. Unix uses the tar file format, while Linux uses the tar and gz format.
KORG Z1 Program Management Utilities for Windows9x/Me/Nt/2000

These utilities were created in order to facilitate my
growing collection of KORG Z1 programs. They all are simple
Win32 console apps, so start them from the command line 
specifying options and one or more sysex files as parameters.
You can also used wild cards when specifying sets of files.


Z1List
------
Z1List utility takes KORG Z1 sysex files and lists all the 
programs it founds in them on the standard output. You can 
also display a few other program parameters like program 
category, oscillator model, etc.


Z1Split
-------
Z1Split utility takes KORG Z1 sysex files and extracts all
the programs into separate sysex files, one sysex file per
program. The resulting sysex files have the same names as
the programs they contain. 


Z1Merge
-------
Z1Merge utility takes KORG Z1 sysex files and merges them
into single sysex files, which can be either a set of 
separate programs or a complete bank.
